Message breakout board test rig. Set up the test rig with a decent test load (ie., 100 mA bulb or similiar) and then hit the PTU with a firing signal and make sure the test load works correctly.

PTU is just a simple semiconductor switch. Unfortunately unless you are a bit familiar with electronics - not all that easy to figure this out.

One thing you could do is pull a coil pack, attach a spark plug and ground it. Turn on key, rotate the CAS shaft by hand and see if the plug fires. Run this test on all the packs -- will know for sure that way too?....
